000650 Acronyms Related to Computer Engineering

Comprehensive List of Acronyms in Computer Engineering: A-Z

This page provides an extensive list of acronyms related to computer engineering, arranged in alphabetical order. It’s important to note that a single acronym in computer engineering can have different meanings in other fields, and even within computer engineering, one acronym may represent multiple technologies or concepts. As technology evolves rapidly, many terms and acronyms become outdated or obsolete, but legacy systems and older technologies are still widely used by individuals and companies.

That’s why this list includes both old and new acronyms to ensure a complete and up-to-date reference for computer engineering professionals.

BT

Bluetooth

In 935 A.D. King Harald Blatand (which means Harold Blue Tooth) king of Denmark and Norway from 935 and 936 respectively, to 940. He was known for his unification of previously warring tribes from Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. The technology later called “Blue Tooth” was named after him.  The term “Blue Tooth” was intended to unify technologies like computers and cell phones. The Blue Tooth logo combines the Nordic runes for H and B. It was said that the story of king Harald Blatand as a unified force was more or less based on the novel “Long Ships” by Frans Gunnar Bengtsson.  “Long Ships” was a Swedish best-selling Vicking-inspired novel. In April 1998 A.D., Intel and Microsoft formed a consortium between themselves and IBM, Ericsson, Nokia, Toshiba, and Puma Technology where the code name Bluetooth was adopted for their proposed open specification.

elif

Else If

In Python

In Python programming, conditional statements allow your code to make decisions based on conditions. One key conditional statement is elif, which stands for "else if" and helps create more complex decision-making structures. The main conditional statements in Python are:

If: Executes a block of code if a condition is true.

Elif: Adds additional conditions to check if the initial if condition is false.

Else: Provides an alternative block of code when all if and elif conditions are false.

If Elif Else: Combines all these statements for multiple conditions and outcomes.

This structure is essential for controlling the flow of a Python program, making your code more efficient and adaptable.

825 A.D. At the age of 45, Al-Khwarizmi wrote a book which was the oldest known writing using a fully developed numeration system.

Al-Khwarizmi established the branch of mathematics that is known as Algebra. The word Algebra is driven from the Arabic word “Jaber” that means Approximation.

Al-Khwarizmi established the Arabic numbers 0 through 9 that are still in use until today.

850 A.D. Al-Khwarizmi died at the age of 70.

RGB

Red Green Blue

Color Attribute

Decimal RGB

In the Decimal RGB classification, a color's Red (R), Green (G), or Blue (B) component is described by a whole number ranging from 0 to 255. Each component can have one of 256 numerical values.

For example, the color Alice Blue is described as 240, 248, 255.

Hexadecimal RGB

In the Hexadecimal RGB classification, a color's Red (R), Green (G), or Blue (B) component is represented by two entities, which can be digits (0-9) or letters (A-F). Each component can have one of 256 numerical values.

For example, Alice Blue is represented as #F0F8FF, where "F0" means 240, "F8" means 248, and "FF" means 255.

The Hexadecimal System uses ten Arabic numbers (0-9) and the letters A through F to describe colors.
